What is your experience of opening an account with a private bank? Do they call you every hour or so to confirm and validate the data time and again, or just simply don’t care about your application because of its a “Zero Balance Account”. Well every Bank treats a customer who has come for a Privileged account, with the high owner and promises to give them a special privilege (though I have never received any from my Bank besides getting regular calls from their Investment department to invest my money with them.) But the million-dollar question is, “do the Banks Treat their Minimum Balance Account Holders with the same respect as for Privileged Customers?”
A few days back, my known happily and cheerfully came to me to tell that he is going for a Zero Balance Account with one of the leading Private Bank in India and I should also plan one. In this fully computerized banking system, his application has not been given a sympathetic ear even once in the last twenty days. Although he earns well and comes in the upper Middle-Class strata, but wanted to go for a Zero Balance account because of his habit of spending his money in an equally well manner. So he didn’t want fines and charges adding to his monthly statement every month. More than anything choosing the Type of Bank Account is the matter of choice of the customer.
Today when I talked to him, I found this usually cheerful guy, little gloomy. On digging deeper, I came to know the reason for his dingy mood.
He had already called the Bank representative number of times and every time he gets is Assurance. I asked him to send a little Sarcastic mail to the higher authorities in order to get a remedy. Have a Look at the Mail.
PS: Name and other details were removed in order to respect the Bank whether or not they respect us.

Dear Sir,
This is in regard to my application No _______ for a “No frill Saving Account” with your bank, Branch _________________ . It’s been more than 20 days since your staff is taking a test of my patience. I am particularly disheartened with the behaviour of Mr. A (His ID or Contact No.) who was supposed to be providing help in opening a simple bank account. However, he is making excuses that a verification guy was sent over my place thrice and every time they didn’t find anybody home. Did he really say “he didn’t find anybody home?”
I want to bring a few things to your knowledge in regard to the above statement, which I have already clarified to Mr. A, but to no avail. First, I am a professional blogger working from home. Secondly, I live here with my family and none of the members are doing any day job. So there is no point not getting anyone at home not once or twice but three times (I am taking into consideration that the verification guy came to my place on three different days and he is not counting ringing the doorbell thrice as his “Three Visits”).
On the other side of the coin, let’s suppose if your verification team “Seriously” visited my place as a part of their official duty. Were they not supposed to give a call before coming or when they didn’t find anybody home? I had provided my contact details for their convenience as well as mine. But tragically I never ever received a call from anyone regarding Negative Verification.
Sir, I never thought that opening an account with a Reputed Bank like yours could give me nightmares. On top of it, the staff is highly unprofessional and not ready to help the customer. Kindly tell me what can be done in such a scenario when everybody is turning a deaf ear to all my pleads.
And If you really want any customer to open a Zero Balance Account, please don’t give it as an option in your Application Form
With hopes of getting heard this time
A Gloomy Customer
(Still determined to open an account with your bank)
